Privacy policy

Your recordings stay on your machine. Dicta does not upload your video, audio, transcripts, annotations, or generated titles to us.

Who we are

BVR Code CommV is responsible for the personal information we process as described in this policy. Polar is separately responsible for data it processes under its own privacy policy.

What happens locally

Screen and audio capture, transcription, annotations, and optional AI title generation run on your device. Recordings, project information, settings, and license state are stored locally. We do not receive your recording content or use it to train AI models.

You control what you record, copy, export, or share. Content you paste into another app or send to another service is subject to that service's privacy practices. Device backups or sync tools you configure may also copy your local files.

Payments and license checks

Polar handles checkout and license keys. It processes information needed for a purchase or trial, such as your email address, billing information, payment details, and order or license records. As the seller of Dicta, we may access customer, order, and license information through Polar to administer purchases and provide support. We do not receive your full payment card details.

The app contacts Polar to activate, validate, or deactivate your license. These requests include the license key and relevant activation identifiers. A device activation label includes your computer's hostname and a random identifier. Polar also receives normal connection information, such as your IP address. Your recording content is not part of these requests.

This information is used to fulfill your purchase, enforce the one-device license limit, and meet applicable payment and accounting obligations. See Polar's privacy policy for its handling of personal data, retention, international transfers, and your rights.

Downloads and website visits

Installing transcription or title-generation models and tools requires downloads from third-party hosts. Those hosts receive ordinary download request information, such as your IP address. Processing then runs locally; model downloads do not send your recordings to those hosts.

The Dicta website does not include advertising trackers or analytics scripts, and does not set tracking cookies. The website's hosting provider may process IP addresses and ordinary request logs to deliver and secure the site. Polar's checkout and customer portal have their own privacy and cookie practices.

Support, retention, and deletion

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond. Please avoid sending recordings or sensitive information unless needed for your request.

Local recordings remain on your device until you remove them. You can delete recordings in Dicta and manage device activations in Polar. Deleting local files does not delete purchase records or copies in backups. Purchase and support information is kept only as needed for service, legal obligations, and resolving disputes; Polar applies its own retention rules.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, or to restrict or object to certain processing. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise your rights concerning information we process, contact [email protected]. For data Polar controls, contact Polar through its privacy policy or the support details on your receipt. We cannot access or delete recordings held only on your device.
